Through an announcement made recently, Wizz Air, the largest low-fare airline based in the Central and the Eastern Europe has declared that it will move its flight services offered in the Budapest - Transylvania route to Tirgu Mures Airport from Cluj. The shifting will see the flights being operated from this new base of Cluj from 15th May. Notably, Cluj is the newest base of the airline in the region.
Way back in July 2006, Wizz Air started operating from Tirgu Mures Airport. The airline decided to shift its operation from Transylvania to Cluj in November 2007. On the whole, the new base of Cluj had been very successful for the airline. However, the experience of the airline from both the bases clearly reveals that Tirgu Mures proved to be more popular with passengers looking forward to travel to and from Budapest. Following this market trend analysis, the airline has announced the recent decision to shift to the Tirgu Mures base from Cluj.
As the change of schedule comes into effect, the airline said that it would make the necessary arrangements to individually inform all the passengers who have already booked for Budapest - Cluj flights. Once the Budapest-Tirgu Mures flights start operating, there will be three services a week. In addition, the timings for the new route will remain the same as it is scheduled presently from Budapest. The move does not affect the airline's Cluj expansion plans.
