Welcome to Preston
UK Travel

Welcome to Preston-a new section introduced to the council's website offers a warm welcome to people visiting the website.

To access the new section, visitors have to click on the banner titled 'Welcome to Preston, England's newest city' on the top of the homepage of the city council's website at www.preston.gov.uk. The area offers useful information and contacts for those who are new to the city as well as those are interested in learning a lttle more about their own city.

The content, which has been researched and written by the communications team of the council, includes a detailed introduction to the Preston city, day and night in the city centre, places to visit for in the icity, maps and all the information for new people coming to the city.

Also, some pages dedicated to major local organisations like the University of Central Lancashire, Preston North End and Preston Strategic Partnership are also there.

Executive member for resources, Councillor Eric Fazackerley, said, "These new areas and updates have given the website a real boost, making it significantly more useful to people who live outside Preston and want to find out more about our city. I particularly like the postcards from Preston as they are unique and together with the audio clips provide something a bit different that will appeal to a diverse audience"

We're striving to raise the profile of Preston and raising awareness of what the city is about through channels like the internet is a key part of that".
