Virtual Amsterdam constructed for tourism enthusiasts
Destinations

People who like the idea of travelling but find it a difficult task need not to worry, as the first virtual tourist board in Second Life has been introduced by The Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions.

Named as New Holland, it is completely constructed and owned by its residents, featuring the best of Holland. With a big canal crossing the whole island, it gives the look and feel just like the city of Amsterdam. A real treat can be expected, as the idea is very innovative and has a touch of artistry in it.

The island features cobblestone streets, bridges crossing the canals, boats, bicycles, typical Dutch and modern architecture, Dutch flags and tulip fields close by a Dutch windmill-tourists can expect just the replica of Amsterdam city before their eyes when they visit this place.

Faux world citizens can share the facts about the previous journeys and can also provide articles, images and videos that are related to all things Dutch.

Users can also have travel tips on the ways to get to Holland IRL. Overall, this is a unique and very interesting idea for travel enthusiasts, and no wonder that it will increase the travelling image of Holland among the foreigner visitors.

Giving members an experience of what they are missing while sitting at home on their couches, it is about time tourism boards catch on to the marketing opportunity of a web world.
