Virgin celebrate 20 years of Gatwick - Orlando flights
European Airlines

Today, Virgin Atlantic celebrates its 20th anniversary of its operations on the route between London Gatwick Airport and Orlando. This is a great landmark in the aviation industry and no wonder that Virgin has fulfilled its promise by being one of the most preferred airlines among the passengers.

To mark the occasion, the carrier has joined forces with Walt Disney World to present Mickey and Minnie Mouse ears to the children flying on the Orlando flights today.

Furthermore, a 'Disney Dream' will be offered by Disney to one lucky family in honour of the Year of a Million Dreams 2 celebrations presently being held in the resorts.

The lucky family will become the overall marshalls in the Disney Dreams Come True pre-parade in the 'Magic Kingdom' on the 29th of May with a full VIP dealing for the park.

The carrier first started operating its daily service on the route from Gatwick airport to Orlando in the month of May in 1988 as its third destination and since then, it carried nearly 10 million travellers to the popular leisure destination.

And, in June 1998, the airline introduced a second daily service on the route.

Virgin Atlantic's Chief Executive, Steve Ridgway, said, "20 years on this sunny and fun-filled destination has never lost its appeal for British holidaymakers.

Year after year families continue to visit the home of world-renowned Walt Disney World with almost half of all Brits choosing to fly with Virgin Atlantic".
