Following the recent move by several other carriers, Virgin Atlantic has decided to offer five extra return services to Montego Bay during the Christmas period. This has been confirmed by the airline in a statement made recently. During the winter, the airline will employ an Airbus A340-300 for operating these additional services between Gatwick and the Jamaican city, meeting the needs of the additional Holidaymakers who would like to jet off in search of some winter sun.
The chief executive of Virgin Atlantic, Steve Ridgway noted, "This route has proved very popular with leisure customers and these additional flights will provide a further boost to the region's economy, with over 2,000 passengers expected to take advantage of the extra services."
Irrespective of the launch of these new services, the existing service operated now between these two destinations on Mondays and Wednesdays shall continue their normal operations. In addition, the new flights are scheduled to fly on December 22, 23 and 29, in addition to 5th and 6th of January.
The airline believes that the additional services shall meet the needs of not less than two thousand passengers in this route over the months of December and January alone. This is because the traffic in the route really gets busy with dramatic number of passengers visiting the region over these two months seeking a sunny spot in addition to those people who wish to undertake travels during this time to visit their families.
