Thomsonfly axe five routes from Bournemouth Airport
UK Travel

Next summer, Thomsonfly has decided to axe five routes from Bournemouth Airport as the demand significantly slides down in the route. On the other hand, two other routes are to be introduced from the South Coast airport.

The changes indicate that the routes in and out of Bournemouth can as well be served with one Boeing 737 aircraft instead of the two flying at present. So, you should plan your trips from Bournemouth according to the times offered by other airlines. From South Coast airport, you can have more options provided by Thomsonfly.

The services axed from the summer schedule of Thomsonfly with effect from 1st May include flights to Pisa, Alicante, Salzburg, Valencia and Tenerife. The new routes introduced are Dalaman located on Turkey's Mediterranean coast and Heraklion located on the Greek island of Crete. As per the changes fro next summer, the airline will operate 7 routes from Bournemouth to Faro, Malaga, Ibiza, Palma Mallorca, Dalaman, Paphos, and Heraklion.

According to Sally Windsor, Bournemouth Airport spokeswoman, Ryanair operates Alicante and Pisa while Palmair operates Tenerife. Therefore, these are not destinations lost to people wishing to fly out of Bournemouth. Though Salzburg and Valencia are to be lost, Dalaman and Crete will be gained. She added, "So the number of destinations remains the same, so there's no net loss to the airport."

To ascertain the potential effects of the aircraft reduction process, the airline is also talking to pilots, engineers, cabin crew and trade unions based at Bournemouth.
