Tickets for the Qantas' new Airbus A380 flight went on sale today, before the carrier's first A380 operation between Los Angeles and Melbourne on the 20th of October.
The senior executive vice president of Qantas, the Americas and Pacific, Mr. Wally R. Mariani, said that the A380 would fly on selected routes from Los Angeles to Sydney and Melbourne, and would be gradually employed on selected services on the routes from Sydney to London and Singapore from early next year.
He said, "The first Qantas A380 will operate two round-trip services each week between Los Angeles and Australia - one to Melbourne, starting on October 20 and one to Sydney, starting on October 24, 2008.
As the commencement of A380 services represents such an important milestone in the history of Qantas' international operations, including here at our Los Angeles launch gateway, we are offering a limited number of very special A380 fares".
With the launch of its second A380 flying machine in the month of November, the carrier will operate 5 A380 flights a week between Los Angeles and Australia-2 round-trip flights to Melbourne and 3 services to Sydney.
Mr. Mariani said, "All four classes of the A380 will offer passengers greater levels of space and comfort, as well as state-of-the-art interiors designed by Qantas Creative Director Marc Newson".
Qantas' new A380 aircraft will have 450 seats: 14 individual First Suites, 72 in Business class, 32 in Premium Economy class and 332 in Economy cabin.
