Sleeping Beauty on ice all set to wake up Burghley House
UK Travel

Lincolnshire's Elizabethan-style Burghley House provides the backdrop for a tented ice palace and ice dancing this summer.

"The Sleeping Beauty on Ice" tour arrives at Burghley for a five-day runfrom August 6-10. The  theatrical ice skating company will be touring some of the stately homes in England for the "Treasure Houses Tour". During the two-month tour, Burghley will be one of the venues for the theatre on ice show

A 23-strong cast of Olympic, world, European and national championship skaters will bring Sleeping Beauty to life in the Tented Ice Palace - offering reserved cushioned seating, chandeliers, fully licensed Ice Bar and air conditioning.

Skating feats will be performed on the frozen theatre stage in the Ice Palace.

To Tchaikovsky's music, The Imperial Ice Stars will portray the love story through ice dancing including high speed throws, aerial gymnastics, stilt skating and fire effects.

Audiences will also be able to picnick in the grounds or in the Tented Ice Place before the show begins.

Burghley House has been used as a location for hit movies Pride & Prejudice, starring Keira Knightley, and The Da Vinci Code. It was also used in The Golden Age starring Cate Blanchett, as the home of John Dee, Queen Elizabeth's personal astrologer and adviser.
