It was a historic day with the signing of the Codeshare agreement between United Airlines and Croatia Airlines.

The signing of the codeshare agreement will benefit both the airlines, as customers of United Airlines will be able to enjoy traveling to Eastern Europe visiting places like Zagreb, Dubrovink and Split while the customers of Croatia Airlines can avail of flights to North American cities on the East as well as West coast - Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

United Airlines' Senior Vice-President of Alliances, International, and Regulatory Affairs, Michael Whitaker, was all praise for the Codeshare agreement. He emphasized that this agreement would make it possible for its customers to travel to Eastern Europe and enjoy what it had to offer. United Airlines was focusing on its world-class network by adding newer and more exciting destinations on its routes. Customers of United Airlines could now have easy access to Zagreb and the beautiful Dalmatian coast.

Reaffirming the sentiments of United Airlines, the Chief Executive Officer of Croatia Airlines, Ivan Misetic said, "This agreement is of special importance for Croatia Airlines because it is the first intercontinental agreement signed by the company". He said that the signing of the Codeshare agreement was a major landmark for Croatia Airlines as well.

Croatia Airlines - the national airline of Croatia has its main base in Zagreb. It is also a regional member of the Star Alliance Group. Croatia Airlines has domestic as well as international flights from Dubrovnik and Split Airports.

Croatia Airlines has only gotten bigger and better from when it started its operations in July 1989 with a Cessna 402 aircraft offering cargo services. Its original name `Zagal' was changed to Croatia Airlines in July 1990 after the first Democratic elections were held in Croatia.
