Plans to developing a second airport in the Manchester have been uncovered by Manchester Airport owners--certainly a great news for passengers from Manchester.
According to the owners of the Manchester Airport, the new development would complement the hub already serving passengers.
Recently, Barton Aerodrome has been re-named by the owner of the airport as City Airport Manchester and Andrew Simpson, Managing Director the company told the Manchester Evening News that more advancement was anticipated.
Mr. Simpson also explained that instead of competing Manchester Airport, the main focus of the City Airport would be on offering services for corporate and business travel.
He said, "We are in discussions about making City Airport Manchester a business and general aviation airport. There has been a massive rise in business travel - executives using small corporate jets as they are quicker".
Mr. Simpson further said, "Manchester Airport is very busy with larger jets and international flag carriers, and it's not an effective use of its facilities to have small aircraft going through there. If Manchester is going to be a world class business city it needs to have easily accessible facilities for scheduled carriers and also for smaller jets".
Though it is a good news for passengers as they will have more options of travelling from Manchester, but green groups and organisations would surely have an issue with this declaration and perhaps would oppose this move of second airport in Manchester.
