Ryanair has decided to offer flight services from Edinburgh to a number of brand new destinations in September, using two newly delivered aircrafts. Already, the airline is offering its services from Edinburgh to Shannon and Dublin. In addition, the airline has also announced its decision to fly its services to Alicante, Frankfurt, Bremen, Pisa and Marseille in April.
According to the announcement made on February 28th Ryanair's new services will fly between Edinburgh and Dusseldorf from June with two flights a week.
In addition, several new routes are introduced to commence in September. Destinations like Bilund, Poznan, Palma and Krakow will be served with three flights a week. Wroclaw and Lodz will see two of Ryanair's flights every week. Berlin, Bratislava, Malaga and Stockholm will be served with four flights a week. Bournemouth will see 13 flights of Ryanair arriving from Edinbugh every week.
To operate all these services, Ryanair will employ two new Boeing 737-800 aircraft from its second Scottish base, which is incidentally the airline's 27th European Airport. Notably, around 1.2 million passengers will be using these new routes in a year. These new routes will generate an additional income of around £100 besides generating 1,200 jobs in East Scotland and Edinburgh.
Sean Coyle, Ryanair's director of scheduled revenue remarked, "Our 19 routes will deliver significant economic benefits for Edinburgh by capitalising on Scotland's huge tourism potential and making it cheaper and easier than ever before to get here."
