Recycle your Christmas 'extras'
Green Travel

Now, it is time to recycle the extra wrapping and packaging paper that you have, as you have enjoyed the Christmas festivities. Also, do not forget to recycle your Christmas tree!

On the 6th of January 2008, all the real Christmas trees will be shredded at a big shred, which will be taking place at the War Memorial Park from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

However, if anybody is not able to make it on this particular date, there are many other ways to recycle the tree.

The locations where you can take your Christmas tree for its recycling between 3rd and 11th January 2008, include: The War Memorial Park; B&Q, Holyhead Road; B&Q, Brandon Road; Wyevale Garden Centre, Brownshill Green Road; and Waste to Energy Plant, London Rd, Coventry.

Furthermore, you can also put your Christmas tree into a brown-lidded bin, from here it will be recycled on the next garden waste collection. Before putting it into the bin, make sure that it is not too big to fit into the bin and if you feel it should be cut into smaller pieces then please do a little more.

All your Christmas cards, wrapping paper, magazines, newspapers and packaging can be put into your black box so that it can be collection directly from your home.

You can also take your cardboard and paper to one of the paper banks in the city. There are many recycling centres in the city, where you take your cans, jars and glass bottles.

For more information and to locate a collection centre, visit www.coventry.gov.uk.
