A Shropshire hotel has started to offer free petrol to those who stay at the property.
Guests staying overnight in Broseley at the Old Rectory in Broseley will be able to enjoy a range of exclusive benefits: many of its rooms have antique furniture, private Jacuzzis, four-poster beds and works of art decorating the walls. And, now they are giving away 5 litres of petrol free.
David Hoyle, the owner of the hotel who was seeing a fall in business in recent past, that he attributed to inflation and the higher fuel costs, said, "It's our little bit of Dunkirk spirit. We live in a rural area and are very dependent on tourism, and we don't want to give up on our staff or those who want to come and visit but feel the effects of the crunch stopping them".
Kathy Gwinnett of the online booking site LateRooms, said, "People are increasingly looking for great value when selecting where to stay, and free bath goodies and a mint on the pillow won't cut it any more - savvy guests are demanding more from hotels, be it free petrol, luxury shopping vouchers or tickets to local attractions as part of the deal".
A client of LateRooms, the high-class 41 Hotel in London, offers travel cards and the option of a bottle of champagne, a three-course meal or a £50 voucher for shopping at Harrods with a booking for a two-night stay.
