This year, summer in Brest will set off with a big hit: cyclists are going to take part in 'Tour de France' and only a week later, Brest will host superb sailing vessels from all over the world.
Leaving on the 5th of July, the Tour de France will include a route of nine km passing through the centre of the town. It will give the public an opportunity to be witnesses of this great event, as they can gather on the side roads.
Between 11th and 17th July, ships and crews of the international maritime heritage will draw together in Brest attracting large number of viewers.
This will be a unique maritime congregation displaying a weird diversity of fleets, sailing workboats or standard amusement crafts, powerful three masters or modest open vessels.
Visitors will be able to see maritime customs of Europe, France and all other parts of the world as well as boats that have never passed through France earlier.
Five of the twenty-five guests represented, including Galicia, Croatia, Madagascar, Vietnam and Norway, will have a place of honour.
There will be big show in the evenings throughout the event. On the opening night as well as on Bastille evening (on July 14), visitors will be able to see a boat parade, fireworks and a light and sound show.
The festival concludes with the start of the Brest-Douarnenez Race-so it is going to be very enjoyable time for the visitors.
