Extending between the 1st and the 9th of may, the 2008 North Devon and Exmoor Walking Festival is to offer an exciting range of guided and specialty graded walks numbering around sixty-six. The wide range of these walks ensures exploring the fantastic and diverse scenery of the region on foot for walkers with all levels of ability.
Over two-thirds of the outing programs are new including a 5.1 mile route around the gardens and wooded valley of Arlington Court (National Trust). The 6-mile walk entitled 'High Beacons and Cairns' climbs to reach the tallest point on Exmoor with a rare chance of watching red deer. The walk titled as 'Springwatch Territory' passes through some of the idyllic landscapes of North Devon located around Hatherleigh, that are featured in the animal and wildlife series on BBC with Bill Oddie.
There will also be free outings during two special Celebration Days during the Bank Holiday weekend. The first one scheduled on the 3rd of May will be held at the RHS Garden Rosemoor of Torrington. In addition, there is also a walk around Rosemoor accompanied by Ross Hoddinott, the local professional photographer. On the 4th of May, HF Holidays, one of the sponsors of the festival will offer an open day at the Holnicote House near Selworthy including four free-guided walks.
The other major offers are priced from £5 - £6 for adults and £4 - £5 for children.
