Lufthansa, Germany-based carrier would begin operating five flights from the Indian city of Kolkata to Frankfurt from the coming week. This is a very good development for relationship between two countries-India and Germany.
The new air link would encourage exchange with Germany, and Bavaria. It would be a significant development for both the countries as lots of passengers from India travel to Germany and now they will be able to take flights directly to Frankfurt from one of the metros.
Bengal looked at Bavaria as a joint business partner which could play an important role in the development of the state, the chief minister of West Bengal, Buddhadeb Bhattarcharjee, said at the Bengal-Bavaria Business summit 2008.
Bhattarcharjee revealed that both sides provided a business-friendly setting for sectors such as communication, information technology and automobiles. No wonder that tourism can also be added to this venture, which will surely boom in wake of flights provided by Lufthansa.
In the month of April, the government of West Bengal opened a trade centre in Munich to focus on attracting investors from Europe to the state.
The newly inaugurated centre would promote Bengal to companies in Europe as an investor-friendly location.
Companies based in West Bengal could team up with medium-sized companies based in Germany for working on projects in West Bengal.
Bhattarcharjee said that Bavaria-based businesses had shown open interest and the state was determined to receive them for growth.
