By addition new destinations, Lufthansa is continuing to expand its services. With the start of the 2007-2008 winter timetable, the global route network of the carrier will encompass 188 destinations in 79 nations. Three new routes are added: to Orlando, Lahore and Karachi.
In a bid to maintain a stable schedule throughout the year, many of the new services that were started this summer will remain operational during the forthcoming winter season.
The new timetable for the winter season is applicable from 28th October 2007 to 29th March 2008.
An increase of 5.7 per cent will take place in the offered seating capacity across Lufthansa's network, while the increase in the available capacity will be of 4.0 per cent on European routes and 6.5 per cent on international routes.
Karl Ulrich Garnadt, member of the Board of Lufthansa Passenger Airlines, said, "We are enlarging our long-haul route network, with the focus on America and Asia," said. In Europe, we are further expanding our route network to Eastern Europe and simultaneously raising frequencies on several routes to business destinations".
In total, 13,272 scheduled flights have been included in the winter timetable, which represents a 2.9 per cent of increase on the last year.
From October 28, the airline will operate 12,208 flights in a week on domestic routes - German and European, and 1,064 long-haul flights to 42 nations in 3 continents.
