Hotel prices in UK up by 17%
UK Travel

It is revealed in research today that the average hotel room in the UK cost £110 per night during the second quarter of 2007 that add to 17% on the same period last year.

Hotel.com's Hotel Price Index depicts the night in Bath is the most luxurious place to stay, at £120 a night (up 2% on 2006) but London is ripping close at its heels with an average of £119 (up 19%).

Patrik Oqvist, marketing director Hotels.com, said: "The high prices in Bath reflect the fact that a large proportion of the hotels in the city are at the higher end of the star-rating scale".

He added, "However, London is edging up on Bath". "While reasonably priced accommodation can still be found, there is an overall lack of cheap accommodation available across the city and demand for beds has remained very strong".

Aberdeen is the flourishing hotel market in the UK rising by 35% to £106 a night. It is just £1 behind the Edinburgh average and well to the lead of Glasgow's £87 a night.

It was only in York city in the top ten to see prices dropped by 2% to £88 a night. Birmingham too endured, plunging by 5% to an average of £50 a night. Overall, the rates of hotels in UK are on rise, and it is also expected that it can go further up in near future.
