Under the Hong Kong Nature Kaleidoscope Programme, three new eco-oriented tours has been introduced by the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
The new travel plans being introduced for the visitors include the wetland tours in Long Valley and Mai Po, as well as the re-packaged Northeast New Territories Islands Hopping Tour offered by the tourism board in association with the travel industry.
According o Anthony Lau, executive director of the HKTB, the Board has been earnestly encouraging the travel industry to introduce eco-oriented itineraries so that visitors will be able to explore the rare spectacular places.
Lau said, "To help sustain the continued development of tourism, the HKTB is working closely with travel trade in introducing more commercially-operated eco-oriented tours in the market under the Hong Kong Natural Kaleidoscope Programme".
Lau also said, "Our surveys reveal that the Programme has been very popular among visitors, which yields an overall rating of 7.9 marks (out of 10 marks)".
Lau added, "We are positively encouraged by the fact that all survey participants said they would recommend the tours to families and friends. The findings clearly underline the huge potential of eco-oriented tours".
The new travel plans under the Hong Kong Nature Kaleidoscope Programme are run by the local travel industry and various conservation groups, while the HKTB has the responsibility to promote the tours.
New travel plans enable visitors to enjoy watching the biggest freshwater wetland, watching various migratory birds and visit attractions like Hakka walled village and feng shui wood and the wetland tour in Mai Po run by WWF Hong Kong.
