Hiva Ova, a far-off, almost unoccupied island in the South Pacific might just be the place one can think of being closest to paradise, which is what encouraged several of Gauguin's most famed paintings.
Part of the Marquesas islands, Hiva Ova is situated around fifteen-hundred kilometres away from Tahiti and no more than a handful, six in total, are occupied in reality.
According to travel industry experts, all of these land masses including Hiva Ova can be an ideal holiday destination choice for holidaymakers interested in hiking activities, as well as other activities such as climbing, biking and surfing.
In addition, not any of these islands have emerged as favorite destinations among tourists yet, which clearly means that holidaymakers are unlikely to get themselves with foreigners.
Holidaymakers can reach the Marquesas islands easily by travelling with Air Tahiti to Papeete. From here, they need to take a connecting flight to reach Hiva Oa or Nuka Hiva.
Air Tahiti is offering a number of flights each week and travellers can enjoy the journey for just $795 (price is for a roundtrip ticket).
After arriving here, visitors will soon understand that these land masses still lack a well developed hospitality industry. They will be able to enjoy home stays that involve staying with a family, as there is a few formal hotel accommodations available for visitors.
In addition, a Pear Lodge Resort (having 20 bungalows) also offers accommodation at the Nuka Hiva Island.
