Help from developers for lower carbon footprints
Green Travel

One of the greatest accounts for concern this year is the environmental effect of carbon emissions and the size of the UK's carbon footprint. There is a rise in our footprint as a result of burning fuel for energy whether it is through lighting or heating the houses or through travelling around the country.

One of the biggest contributors to rising carbon emissions is air travel which is closely followed by car travel. Moreover, in London, owning a car is also very expensive.

So, in an attempt to encourage homeowners not to buy cars, Inspace Homes is offering all buyers at their new scheme Blue with joint venture associate Circle Anglia in Islington, N1, free membership for twelve months to Streetcar, the car club scheme backed by Islington Council.

Parked throughout the borough, Streetcar has a fleet of Volkswagen Golfs. Getting a registration with the scheme will give the residents a chip and pin swipe card. For using a vehicle, an individual can simply book use of a car online or through phone. They will then receive an email or text including the  directions to the location where the vehicle is parked. After reaching at the bay, the resident have to simply swipe the chip and pin card in the card reader set in the windscreen to unlock the vehicle for use.

Residents receive only one bill per month from Streetcar which is based on the usage of the car. For using the scheme, residents have to pay just £4.95 per hour.
