Memset, the dedicated web hosting company revealed that turning out to be carbon neutral can be indeed advantageous for winning new business, revealed.
In August 2006, the company qualified as the UK's first carbon-neutral ISP with the Carbon Neutral Company. Since the achievement, the company noticed a growth in business by 68 per cent year on year.
A recent study of 140 fresh customers showed that one in three customers called Memset their web hosting firm because of the carbon-neutral certification, and nearly half said that the commitment of Memset to energy efficiency proved to be a significant factor for their choice.
Managing director of Memset, Kate Craig-Wood said, "We decided to join the Carbon Neutral scheme last year, in part because we have always been conscience of our impact on the environment and wanted to do something to positively offset our carbon footprint, and also in order to gain a stamp of approval on our pre-existing commitment to developing energy-efficient hosting technologies. The fact that we have gained new business as a result really reflects the changing attitudes of businesses wanting to work with environmentally-friendly suppliers".
For becoming carbon-neutral, Memset joined hands with The CarbonNeutral Company to figure their 'carbon footprint,' or the relative volume of carbon dioxide produced by the company.
The web host is also turning its financing to guide a new methane capture project which has substantially weighable expectations.
