Flybe, one of Europe's largest low-cost carriers, has said that it will no longer operate any services out of Galway Airport. The budget carrier had operated regular services to Birmingham, Southampton and Belfast from its base in the Irish city, but now it said that all of its services have been axed. Many airlines are axing flights from lesser important routes and this is one of them to be counted.
Presently, lots of airlines-small and big-are pulling out many scheduled flights and operations at different airports and therefore passengers need to keep update about the recent allowed bookings by various airlines; otherwise, they can face problems planning their journeys.
According to a spokesperson for Galway Airport, the airline's decision to axe its services out of the airport is a result of low passenger numbers and said that it is a necessary cost-cutting move.
He further said that the airport is hopeful that Flybe will re-launch its services from the next season and that for now it is planning to give attention to its other major routes. So if future, we might have Flybe coming back to this route.
Now, Aer Arann is the only business airline that operates its services out of the airport. Offering regular flights to a number of UK destinations including Edinburgh, London Luton and Dublin. So, if you would like to travel this airport, you will have to book a ticket with Aer Arann.
