For the first time ever in the car rental industry, Europcar UK Group, the leading car rental provider of the UK has declared its plans to add vital information to the description of its car group to reflect the average CO2 emissions of vehicles. Provided for both Europcar and National brands, the new information will help business and leisure travellers make greener decisions while renting.
Tim Bailey, Fleet Director of Europcar UK Group remarks, "Through this industry-leading initiative, Europcar and National will be the first daily rental brands to include average CO2 emissions in how cars are grouped, along with shell size and transmission. We believe this is an enormously positive step for the industry and we hope that the other rental providers will soon follow suit."
The initiative follows the commitment of the company deemed central to their business development strategy. The companies are also exploring new innovative technologies like HDI, bio-fuel and BlueMotion by way of introducing a sub-120gms CO2 emissions group.
The lowest emissions group is to feature vehicles of 130gms CO2 emissions on an average. This will include mini three-door hatchbacks like the Peugeot 107. The highest group will cover vehicles with 230gms like executive saloon automatic estates like the Volvo V70 and the Saab 9-5.
Tim Bailey added, "We are tremendously excited about this move. It provides vital clarity for both leisure and business renters and reaffirms our leading market position in the UK."
