From 1st June onwards, passengers travelling with SWISS on any of its routes will be able to enjoy flying on an electronic ticket-a great step towards saving paper.
The enhanced facility should soon make paper-free travel the standard for all the passengers travelling throughout the entire network of SWISS.
Electronic tickets (e-tickets) have a number of advantages compared to the traditional paper tickets: an e-ticket can not be lost or stolen and passengers are able to receive an electronic ticket at ultra-short notice.
Furthermore, e-tickets also offers the passengers the advantage of being able to check-in online and take print out for their boarding passes at their own places or on a self-check-in machine at the airport.
In addition to this, passengers can easily rebook e-tickets and can receive at the place they are located, allowing them to avoid long queues at ticket windows or desks.
Now, electronic tickets can also be issued for shared bookings with more than 100 other carriers.
SWISS has been one of the international leaders in introducing the electronic ticket (e-ticket) system, particularly in offering shared e-ticketing.
And in taking a step further towards an e-ticketing future, SWISS is completely in line with the aims of International Air Transport Association (IATA) to ensure hundred per cent e-ticket availability throughout the world by the middle of the current year.
However, the paper tickets issued before the 1st of June can be used up to and including the 31st of May, 2009.
