Cleanliness important for air travellers according to a survey
UK Travel

Travel website TripAdvisor conducted the annual trends poll of over 2,500 visitors from around the globe, and found Jerba in Tunisia to be the top location and British Airways the favoured carrier among passengers outside the US.

Eight out of 10 questioned said when they travel, they are very much concerned about viruses, bacteria and germs. Around 28 per cent consider aircrafts to be germy.

Cleanliness in airports, hotels and restaurants is also a major concern for people, and 55 per cent of respondents said that they wash their hands more frequently while travelling.

Besides this, many travellers carry their personal cleaning accessories, towels, sheets and shower shoes, with them when they are going out for a trip. Clean toilets are taken as a mark of a tremendous airport.

In the survey, Heathrow Airport was unable to come out great, tying with Chicago O' Hare for the dubious award of being the least favoured airport in the world.

Amsterdam Schiphol is the world's favourite airport, while American Airlines is the world's favourite carrier.

British Airways was the best carrier among passengers outside the US. The airline received praise for its friendly staff, comfortable seating and a good record of punctuality.

Other concerns which are pointed out in the survey include the use of mobile phones in planes, with 78 per cent of those surveyed saying they do not think that they should be given permission.

Makandi Bay in Egypt was on the second while Phangnga in Thailand on the third place in the top destinations' list.
