There is a strong reason for skiers to rejoice during this season, as there is a heavy snowfall at most ski resorts across Europe. With a heavy snowfall, the popular ski resorts located in Austria, France Italy and Switzerland have covered themselves with a thick blanket of ice to bestow a wonderful skiing experience for visitors.
The ideal one among the resorts in France is the Argentiere, located in the Chamonix valley. The location had around 106cm of snowfall during the five days of Easter holidays. Also, Tigens experienced not less than 75 cm of snowfall during the weekend. However, the highest snowfall is recorded in Cauterets, located in the Pyrenees, with a snow depth increasing by 150cm during last week. At the Crans Montana in Switzerland, there was about 141cm snowfall.
Spokeswoman for Ski Club Great Britain told Times Online, Vanessa Fisher, remarked, "For people who want to ski now there are stacks of skiing to be had. The problem is that people tend to think Easter means the end of the ski season, but this year it'll go on well into the end of April."
Due to the continuation of heavy snowing, quite a many resorts have decided to remain open till the end of April. Notably, St Anton in Austria is to invite guests until 27th April, while Tignes in France chooses to stretch further until 11th May. At this place, the glacier is however open all year long for skiing.
