In a significant move, Bmi has decided to fly its services from Heathrow to Tel Aviv with effect from next year. The airline has confirmed that it will introduce a non-stop service on a daily basis between Heathrow and Tel Aviv on March 13th 2008.
Operating Airbus A320 on the route, there will be two classes available with a capacity of 20 seats in business and 108 seats in the economy class.
According to the airline, the route had been conceived to enable connections to several regional airports scattered throughout the UK, including Manchester, Leeds Bradford, Dublin and Durham Tees Valley.
The chief executive of the airline, Nigel Turner noted that the new route is a "tremendous news" since it focuses on a highly potential market ideal for a competitive business. He remarked, "We have every confidence that our presence on this new route will stimulate its competitiveness."
He too added, "We are committed to delivering a superior product, both on the ground and in the air as well as offering a range of highly competitive fares that will appeal to a wide range of markets."
The decision of Bmi to enter the Heathrow-Tel Aviv market is the result of bilateral talks between the governments of the UK and Israel.
