A climate change summit will be hosted by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council on Friday 14 September. Working together to cut down the carbon footprint of the region and making plans for the effects of the intense weather will be at the top of the agendas in the summit. Such summits are going to discuss the hottest topics of tourism industry, namely, carbon offsetting.
At the 'Climate Change summit which will be held at Civic Offices in Basingstoke, experiences and ideas will be shared by the businesses and local environmental and community groups.
In the morning session at the summit, a presentation presenting the relative importance of business on the climate change will be given by Scott Wilson, an international consultancy company based in Basingstoke.
In addition, the summit will also feature three workshops that will focus on the topics including water and waste planning, transport and energy and biodiversity and habitats.
The council has made a firm determination to work together with the associates, the businesses and the local community groups for drawing up a Climate Change Strategy for the borough by spring next year.
The people who will be attending the summit will have an opportunity to make their contributions towards the strategy. The climate change strategy will focus on the initiatives the borough can take to reduce the consumption of energy, cut down congestion, adapt to the impacts of climate change and make the local environment better.
