Bangkok hosts a road show to promote tourism

A road show was held in Bangkok on Monday by Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam provinces and Danang city in central Vietnam, to promote their tourism and cultural attractions.

The Vietnam National Administration for Tourism (VNAT) presided over the show. The show was attended by delegates of more than sixty travel companies and airlines as well as reporters from thirty Thai newspapers.

Administrators from over 30 tourist companies and hotels from the Vietnamese side are in Bangkok, who are looking for tie-ups with Thai associates.

The General Manager of Thai tourist firm 2020 Travel, Thanik Kachonkitisakul, said that the number of tourists to the central region of Vietnam from Bangkok, had spurted of late.

He said, "It is hoped that this year tourist arrivals from Thailand to central Vietnam will double". It can be easily visualised that the travel traffic is certain to increase by a whopping margin.

An official of VNAT said that Thailand was an important associate for Vietnam for the promotion of tourism in the central region, especially when the East-West economic corridor was opened.

Tourism authorities of Vietnam and Thailand had also introduced an advertising drive in Vietnam during last May, for promoting travel between the two countries.

The main focus of the campaign, named as the Thailand Road Show 2007, was on the amazing opportunities for trip to the Buddhist kingdom.

The campaign also aimed to improve mutual effort in promoting travel to Vietnam from Thailand.
