BA readies London City to NY service
Destinations

According to a report recently published by Travel Weekly, it appears that British Airways is preparing to release the details of its new business class-only service connecting London City Airport with New York.

With the service due to be launched in the month of September 2009, the said connection will be notably the first ever long-haul service of the city. Most notably, this particular service primarily targets to serve the corporate travelers based around Canary Wharf.

Under this new launch, the airline will operate its flights twice a day. The most attractive feature of this service is that the airline is to use an exclusively configured Airbus A318s, which has not more than 32 fully-reclinable beds, assuring the best of comforts available at present in the airline industry.

Though it is said that the outbound flights will see a 40-minute stopover in Shannon, no decision has ever been made regarding how the New York airport will be used with respect to this service. Though the refueling stop is brought about by the size of the aircraft employed for this service, the airline spokesperson Richard tams noted that this need not be viewed as a factor of inconvenience.

He added, "We can turn a stopover at Shannon into an advantage. Passengers will clear immigration and customs without getting off the aircraft - it is a very attractive proposition."

Most notably, Shannon and Dublin airports have been offering US immigration and customs services since long necessitated by those days when transatlantic stopovers were highly common.
