One of the biggest refurbishment projects to be given away this year has been won by APT SkiData. The project involves replacement of the systems that is currently working at four car parks at Southampton Airport.
The system has to be replaced with the new APT 450 systems and integrated Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology.
The project is awarded via Meteor Parking with whom APT SkiData has worked successfully at Stansted. The contract includes replacement of systems in four places: the short-term, long-term, staff car parks, and car rental / collection.
Sixteen new entry/exit lanes will be covered bu APT 450 barriers. And, eight pay on foot stations will also be created--three of which will be the latest Credit Cash machines for payments through credit or debt card only and the remaining will be Easy Cash machines which will accept cards as well as cash including banknotes and coins.
These new machines will be the first of their kind in Britain: these machines feature 'note-to-note' recycling-they are able to store cash payments of £5 and £10 to reuse them as change with the help of bank notes along with coins and avoid allocating huge amounts of coins as change.
The latest ANPR technology works as a double purpose solution: firstly it works as a security measure allowing a complete audit trail of vehicles and secondly, it works as a customer service instrument recognising and granting entry to all the vehicles registered as having advance booking.
