Airfare might rise in future
UK Travel

An upward trend in airfares has been seen over a period of the past few months and it seems that it will rise even more in the near future.

According to predictions by the Wall Street Journal if some of the key mergers in the US commercial aviation industry move ahead according to plans, the increase in prices is likely to speed up, as struggle reduces on some particular routes.

The air ticket prices have seen a rise of more than ten per cent in the US during a year, while price rise in the US stood at just four per cent.

In recent times, United Airlines said that it would increase prices by a further five per cent in a few weeks on all of its domestic routes, while Delta airlines  has confirmed an increase of $20 to the fuel surcharge.

At present, Delta customers pay upwards of $100 just for fuel on tickets for a few round-trip journeys.

A majority of industry analysts believe that key mergers in the US aviation industry would mean less available seats, not as much of competition and more choice for airline companies when it comes to price hike. As such, travellers have to bear pains, if some of these mergers move ahead.

But it seems that airline companies have fewer options other than to continue to cut costs and no wonder that passengers would also have to cope with it.
