Air France KLM has revealed that from the 30th of March, it will start daily service between Heathrow Airport and Los Angeles. The airline will use a Boeing 777 to operate the new service. A code-sharing agreement with Delta Air Lines will also be started by the carrier on the same day on twelve of the US carriers services between the US and the UK/Ireland.
In the wake of the Open Skies agreement, the carrier will also start a code share on a dozen of Delta routes between the UK/Ireland and the US. These route include services from Manchester to Atlanta and New York JFK; Gatwick to New York JFK and Cincinnati; Edinburgh to New York JFK and Gatwick to Atlanta.
Furthermore, the code-sharing agreement will operate on Delta's fresh twice daily flight between Heathrow and New York JFK that will be starting in the month of March by using slots of Air France at the London Airport. It will also be there on flights to New York JFK and Atlanta from Dublin, as well as the service from Shannon to New York JFK that are awaiting approval by the government.
The two carriers will share costs as well as revenues on the transatlantic services.
Additionally, customers of Delta and Air France will be able to earn reciprocal frequent flyer miles on the services of either airline.
Tickets for the new Heathrow--LA service will be made available for the passengers from later this week.
