Advantage Rent A Car has vowed to run out to be the most environmentally-friendly car rental firm in the US over the period of the coming two years.
Mr. Denny Hecker made this announcement late yesterday, when he appeared at the American Car Rental show arranged in Las Vegas with a green T-shirt.
Mr. Hecker set off the demanding pledge of becoming the first car-hire company in the United States to have an 'all green' fleet of cars.
If the whole thing goes as per the plan, all rental vehicles forming part of the company's fleet will be environmentally-friendly by the year 2010.
The Chief Operating Officer at Advantage, Mick Anselmo, said that the chance to turn out to be the first actually green car hire firm in the United States gave out an exciting opportunity for the company.
Anselmo added, "We not only hope to serve the leisurely traveler looking for a green alternative, but also the government or corporate traveler who has committed to reduction of emissions as well".
The initial step in becoming environmentally-friendly will be to purchase more Toyota Prius vehicles and Chevy Tahoes, both of which have proven extremely popular with car rental customers.
However, Advantage Rent A Car may really enjoy a benefit when compared to several other rental firms in the United States, since the size of its fleet remains smaller than that of most leading companies, making it easier for it to replace gas guzzling vehicles with more fuel-efficient vehicles.
