According to the statement made by one of the top officials, it appears that British Airways has decided to offer direct flight services to connect London and Hyderabad. The said service is to begin operating from this December. Being the second largest market for the airline outside the US, the airline has been ensuring the necessary measures to significantly strengthen its network in India.

Addressing a group of reporters, Amanda Amos, the British Airways" Area Commercial Manager observed, "We plan to launch a direct flight from Hyderabad on December 7.

To operate this proposed new route, BA is to deploy a Boeing 777 aircraft. According to Amos, it appears that there will be five flights operated in a week.

Commenting on the importance of this new route Amos added further, "Our investment in India is quite robust and it is here to stay. The Indian market is important for us. It is the second largest market outside the US in terms of volume.

Most notably, the UK-based air carrier presently operates 43 flights a week with departures from India.

Amos also stated that in yet another significant move, the airline has recently signed an agreement with the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) for establishing a lounge for its passengers at the Mumbai airport.

Amada Amos further stated that as per the new arrangements, all the flights arriving from Mumbai will be landed at the state-of-the art new Terminal-5 at Heathrow airport commencing from September 17
