Monarch Aircraft Engineering has inked maintenance contracts with Flyglobespan, Zoom Airline and Air Greenland. It has also uncovered its plans to set up a line maintenance facility in Kiev, according to the reports by Flight International. This deal could prove effective for many airlines as they would be able to get modern maintenance facility for their aircrafts.
Monarch has submitted an application for Ukrainian CAA permission to set up a line maintenance facility in the capital, Kiev, after a deal to offer line maintenance for Wizz Air's intended new Ukrainian domestic services.
Operating with a single A320 in the beginning, Wizz Air plans to expand the Kiev operation to support 6 flying machines by the year 2010. So, it is quite obvious that the airlines would need a good maintenance line from other companies.

Ukraine's first low fares carrier, Wizz Air Ukraine, said that it would begin operating an opening network of 7 Ukrainian domestic routes from its base at Kiev Boryspil Airport on the 11th of July this year. This is a surprising move for many passengers as the news of airlines downing many of the flights are high these days. Any airlines opening new route is quite surprising for them.
Wiz Air is popular in offering discounted and low fare routes to its passengers and no wonder that air travellers would be delighted to hear about some of the hot favourite destinations offered by Wizz Air.
The carrier will offer low cost services from Kiev Boryspil Airport to Odessa, Simferopol, Lviv, Zaporozhye and Kharkov. So, passengers would be able to avail tickets to any of these destinations at quite a low price though the fuel cost is rising and lots of airlines are increasing the fare prices. It can be expected that if the routes have a good output, the carrier would be able to offer the low prices till quite a while.

Wizz Air, Hungarian low-fares carrier is pushing its service from Coventry to Gdansk-the northern Polish city-back. Passengers of Wizz Air would need to take care about this fact as they won't be able to make more reservations for this route.
The carrier has started its operations on the route from Coventry to Gdansk just two months ago, but now it says it is suspending the service due to pressure on its fleet brought about by the setting up of a brand new base in Kiev.
The budget carrier had operated a three times a week service (on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) to the historic Polish city, but the coming Tuesday, the 13th of May, will be its last flight on the route. So, passengers who would like to travel on this route after 13th of May would need to make some alternate arrangements for the same.

During its Kiev-Odessa-Kiev demonstration flight, Ukraine's low fares carrier, Wizz Air Ukraine, said that it was going to operate its services on international routes to London Luton, Milan Bergamo and Dortmund from its base at Kiev later this year. This is welcome news for passengers of Wizz Air, as they would be to take international flights with the airlines.
The budget carrier will offer air travel opportunities to a large number of Ukrainian travellers and hundreds of thousands of students and workers who are living in a foreign country to make their journey back home-double benefit for the passengers and no wonder that the customer base of the airlines would also increase.
The new services are scheduled to begin on the 15th of September and will complement the domestic network of the low cost carrier.

This week, Wizz Air, the low-fares carrier based in Hungary, has marked its fourth anniversary. The budget carrier officially celebrated its fourth year of operating services on the 19th of May.
The first flight of Wizz Air took off from Katowice International Airport and in the year 2007 it served around 4.2 million travelers, an increase of 40 per cent on the previous year. No wonder that in the coming time, the airlines would be able to take up the number of passengers to a new height.
And, in the current year, the carrier expects that it would serve more than 6 million customers-a reflection of what they would achieve in future.

Through an announcement made recently, Wizz Air, the largest low-fare airline based in the Central and the Eastern Europe has declared that it will move its flight services offered in the Budapest - Transylvania route to Tirgu Mures Airport from Cluj. The shifting will see the flights being operated from this new base of Cluj from 15th May. Notably, Cluj is the newest base of the airline in the region.
Way back in July 2006, Wizz Air started operating from Tirgu Mures Airport. The airline decided to shift its operation from Transylvania to Cluj in November 2007. On the whole, the new base of Cluj had been very successful for the airline. However, the experience of the airline from both the bases clearly reveals that Tirgu Mures proved to be more popular with passengers looking forward to travel to and from Budapest. Following this market trend analysis, the airline has announced the recent decision to shift to the Tirgu Mures base from Cluj.
As the change of schedule comes into effect, the airline said that it would make the necessary arrangements to individually inform all the passengers who have already booked for Budapest - Cluj flights. Once the Budapest-Tirgu Mures flights start operating, there will be three services a week. In addition, the timings for the new route will remain the same as it is scheduled presently from Budapest. The move does not affect the airline's Cluj expansion plans.

The first flight will take off on 12 July, 2008 and will function four times a week. Regular one-way fares begin from EUR 9.99, inclusive of all taxes and charges. In an interesting move, Budget airline Wizz Air has introduced a new service flying between the UK and Bucharest, the capital of Romania. Scheduled to fly three times a week between the city and John Lennon Airport, Liverpool, the new service seems to promise a boost the Romanian market's investment prospects.
Commenting on the new launch, the managing director of the portal Neil Pakey remarked that the given route to Eastern Europe had always proved greatly popular and the chances are more that the Bucharest flight will follow suit. This should be an interesting news for passengers who fly frequently to Romanian capital. They could also expect that the airlines would be offering them more such services by starting more flights on the same route. The airlines expect that it will receive good customer base on this new route.
Natasa Kazmer, Wizz Air's personnel said, "We are glad to expand our network from Liverpool to a new EU member state."

With an initiative first of its kind in the industry, Wizz Air is to introduce additional charges for allocated seating. So far, the airline is operating a priority boarding service with a charge of £2 per passenger to board the aircraft before others. With the new initiative, the emergency-row seats - in rows 12 and 13 that are in high demand will no longer be available to the passengers on a first-come first served basis. With effect from next week, the seats in the exit row are to cost an extra £3.50 for online booking or £7 for booking at the airport. In an industry that is constantly exploring new initiatives to raise revenue, this move is expected to trigger a worrying model, and perhaps a decrease in customer base of the airlines.
However, recently while introducing a fee of £2 for checking in at the airport, Ryanair commented that the airline has no intentions to follow the trend started by Wizz Air. Ryanair confirmed, "We already sell priority boarding and we'll be sticking with that."
In addition, EasyJet is also holding back from this trend for the time being, saying that it is not going to introduce additional charges for allocated seating as of its present position. However, Wizz Air is going to become the first of its kind airlines, and perhaps in future, more airlines would join the suit and introduce similar types of charges for allocated seating. |

The airline's new service enhancement successfully underwent a week of testing on the London-Budapest route, and the carrier now offers comfort seats with additional legroom in rows 12 and 13 to its customers flying from October 29 on the entire route network.
Passengers can take advantage of the service by simply logging onto wizzair.com and can make their purchase. This new feature is very convenient for online purchase, and it is expected that passengers would find it very helpful for them.
