In a significant move, Jet2 has announced two brand new routes from Belfast International Airport for the year 2009. Through the new routes, the airline has decided to operate new flights to the beautiful and scenic Channel Island of Jersey and Menorca's sun-soaked Balearic Island. With the launch of these new routes, the number of routes operated by the airline from its North Ireland base increases to 13.
MD at Jet2, Philip Meeson noted, "We are dedicated to providing our customers with more choice when it comes to their holiday. The launch of these new routes means even more people can take advantage of our great fares and leading customer service."
Managing director at the Belfast airport, John Doran observed, "We are delighted with Jet2's continued commitment to Northern Ireland's travellers. Jersey has long been a popular destination with holidaymakers in Northern Ireland and we are delighted that this, alongside the introduction of the Menorca route, will bring the number of direct scheduled routes available from Belfast International to 48."

Jet2, the budget airline based in Leeds Bradford Airport has introduced fuel surcharges on its flights. This move follows though its boss recently assured that the airline has bought fuel for the next twelve months at attractive rates. This has been reported in the Yorkshire Evening Press. But on the other hand, the airline has responded to criticisms that it has sincerely tried its best to avoid the extra cost by assuring the passengers that it is now up front with passengers regarding the full cost of its flights.
While responding to the claims that the airline is in the danger of busting because of rising fuel costs, Philip Meeson, the chief executive of Jet2 observed, "Jet2 has bought all its fuel for this summer, this coming winter and next summer at attractive rates. Our passengers can rely upon us for many, many years to come. But that hasn't stopped the airline from bringing in a fuel surcharge, which varies depending on the distance of the flight involved."
According to a spokesman for the airline, it appears that the airline has ensured that all the fares advertised on its website and in the press henceforth include all taxes and charges. He too noted that the fuel surcharges had been introduced only recently and that the amount charged varied according to the distance of the flight and hence the amount of fuel used. However, the fact as to why the surcharge had been introduced despite the boss's earlier comments has still not been clarified. |

Jet2.com, the Yorkshire-based low fares carrier, has introduced four more routes to its schedule for the winter season.
As of 18th June, the low-cost airline has started selling tickets for its flights for the European cities of Belfast, Amsterdam, Prague and Dusseldorf. This is great news in fuel price crisis that has rocked the aviation industry since the airlines started increasing the surcharge over ticket prices. Many of the airlines are made to cancel many of the routes that they were offering and lots of them are keeping those routes off. But Jet2 is providing a rare ray of hope that there is still chance for passengers to visit some destinations.
One-way tickets are offered at a price starting from as little as £13.99 (including all the taxes). All flights take off from Leeds Bradford airport.

Jet2, the Leeds Bradford airport-based low fares carrier, is the focus of an investigation following a newspaper raised concerns about the additional costs it includes in the ticket prices, reports the Sunday Sun.
According to the newspaper, passengers flying with Jet2 need to pay a fuel supplement, which is not disclosed on its advertised price and customers become aware of this extra cost when they purchase their tickets online, which is surely a good point of objection.
The charges are being applied twelve months after the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) asked low cost carriers to include all non-optional extras in their headline ticket prices.

Jet2.com, the low-cost carrier, has said that it will be offering services on a new route to Newark airport, New York in the run-up to the Christmas. This is great news for passengers using the services of Jet2, as they will be able to visit US city New York during the busiest of times of the year.
The Leeds, England based budget carrier is serving the route with a fortnightly flight on a trial basis throughout the months of November and December, and if the demand increases it will also increase its frequency. Most likely, the demand of the service would increase as lots of UK travellers go to US during those times.
At present, no other carrier serves the route from Leeds Bradford Airport to Newark airport, New York. This is one of the most striking feature of this service, which if capitalised by Jet2 would definitely be a huge success among the passengers.

Jet2holidays has reduced the amount by two-third that the travellers have to give as a deposit, which is from £150 to £50 per booking. The Leeds Bradford Airport installed tour operator  portion of the budget airline Jet2 - is discarding its strategy of questioning customers for second-level deposits closer to the date of departure.
General manager Mandy Round says: 'We understand how expensive Christmas can be for families which can make January booking prohibitively expensive for some. With our new low deposit rate we're allowing families who, in the past, may have missed out on the bargains, the chance to join the January and February rush for holiday bookings'.
'We have removed the complicated process of initial deposits and second-level payments meaning if, for some reason the customer has to cancel, they only lose the single fee of £50. We are also getting rid of the rather odd tactic of requesting second-level deposits prior to departure. This is extremely common within the industry, but we believe this 'loan' from customer to holiday company is unnecessary and out-of-date and we are calling on all tour operators to match our move'.

Budget airline Jet2.com has flatly denied their latest TV campaign takes a rise out of Salford for being uninteresting. The company's adverts appear to mark the city as 'dullsville' alongside locations like Ramsbottom and Ashton.
John Merry, leader of the Salford City Council said, "I hope their pilots are better at geography than their advertising company. If they had actually bothered to visit Salford they wouldn't have been so dismissive".
Merry continued saying, "This is the city which has everything from a world-class cultural centre to a five-star hotel and great nightlife to miles of open space and waterways, and everything in between".

Weather compulsions have forced companies, launching a television campaign that paints English and Northern Irish towns and seaside resorts as dull and drab. A declaration made for seaside towns and scorned in ads of low cost airline Jet2.com reveals a scathing remark on these towns. The campaigns are going to seriously disturb the tourism industries of these towns.
The ads directly attack towns such as Southport, Salford and Runcorn, with strap lines such as "Stuck again in Stockport?" or "Another swinging night out in Salford?" "The sun and sand of Marbella bears contrast with the landscape".
The airline has a comprehensive policy campaigning including 20 various executions that will run in areas close to jet2.com's bases.
Important and famous towns such as Leeds, Bradford, Manchester, Belfast International, Newcastle and Blackpool form part of its bases.

On July 12, Thursday, it was lights, camera and action in Southport-the Jet2.com airline was in the town filming for its new adverts. The airline is launching new promotional advertisement to showcase its low-budget flights, indicating the need of marketing in the scenario of competition from fellow low-budget airline carriers.
The filming team spent the whole day shooting on Ainsdale Beach, in Lord Street, in Roberto's Restaurant and at The Sands Pub in Ainsdale.
Mark Collins, the Producer, said: "Southport is the perfect place to shoot the advert, it's a main symbol of the North and that's what Jet2.com want".
