Two airlines commit to Newquay despite fuel costs
European Airlines | Flybe

In a highly appreciated move, two airlines based in the UK have recommitted to the Newquay Airport despite rising fuel costs. Notably, one of the routes was cancelled due to alarming rise of fuel costs. Air Southwest, the largest operator of the airport and Flybe have reconfirmed their commitment to Newquay during this week. Flybe has included the pledge regarding this support in an announcement pertaining to the scrapping of its NewQuay Glasgow route commencing in the month of August because of the soaring fuel costs.

It is a highly bothering fact that the rising fuel costs have an adverse effect on airports and carriers across the globe. For instance, unless there is a positive improvement in the condition, Quantas, the Australian carrier has announced during the earlier part of this week that it shall scrap many routes in addition to staff layoff.

On the other hand, Lufthansa has introduced a brand new weekly service connecting Dusseldorf's international airport and Newquay. Most interestingly, the carrier records amazing forward bookings with 71% seat load factors for the month of July alone.

Flybe installs self-service kiosks at Cardiff
European Airlines | Flybe

Flybe, the low fares carrier, has completed the work of setting up three new self-service check-in kiosks at Cardiff International Airport.

The budget airline is the first carrier to make investments in the latest queue-busting technology, which according to it shows its firm commitment to passenger service at the hub. This is great step towards providing easy way through the check-in process, which is reported to waste a lot of time of passengers and is a sort of headache for airlines also.

Apart from enhancing convenience and options for customers, the new check-in kiosks also offer a more cost-effective alternative of channelling travellers through terminals, thus minimising losses due flight delays. This would help the passengers tremendously and would be welcomed by the passengers of Flybe.

Flybe axes Glasgow to Newquay route
European Airlines | Flybe

Flybe, Europe's largest independent regional carrier, has said that it was cutting its service on the route from Glasgow to Newquay in response to rising costs of fuel. This is again one of those news that confirm that the aviation industry is smarting under the pain of fuel cost rise and it is expected that more routes and flights will be cancelled in the coming times due to sustained increase in fuel price around the world.

The carrier started operating its services on the route in the month of April, and now it said that the last service would be operated on the 2nd of August as part of a cost-cutting exercise to axe the loss-making routes.

The no-frills carrier had already reduced its operations by stopping to operate services on the routes from Galway Airport to Southampton, Birmingham and Belfast.

Flybe axe Glasgow - Newquay route
European Airlines | Flybe

Flybe, one of the UK's leading low fares carriers, has axed one of its newly launched services in the face of continuously rising prices of fuel.

The services on the route between Glasgow Airport and Newquay in Cornwall, which were started in the month of April, will be stopped on the 2nd of August. It can be clearly seen that rising costs of fuel are having devastating effects on routes that are not having too much of traffic. Airlines are being forced to axe the routes that they feel do not have any margin of profit and are difficult to keep running.

The Exeter International airport-based carrier-the largest regional budget airline in Europe-said that it had not been flying enough travellers to generate revenue during the current situation when aviation fuel costs were at record high levels.

A couple from the Isle of Man, Sarah and Cedric Flower, have said that they were informed that they would not be able to change their ticket if they don't have the written proof of the booking they had made through telephone.

The budget will now use a 78-seat high-tech Bombardier Q400 plane, with the changeover set to commence on the 10th of July. Flybe axes UK-bound Galway services
European Airlines | Flybe

Flybe, one of Europe's largest low-cost carriers, has said that it will no longer operate any services out of Galway Airport. The budget carrier had operated regular services to Birmingham, Southampton and Belfast from its base in the Irish city, but now it said that all of its services have been axed. Many airlines are axing flights from lesser important routes and this is one of them to be counted.

Presently, lots of airlines-small and big-are pulling out many scheduled flights and operations at different airports and therefore passengers need to keep update about the recent allowed bookings by various airlines; otherwise, they can face problems planning their journeys.

According to a spokesperson for Galway Airport, the airline's decision to axe its services out of the airport is a result of low passenger numbers and said that it is a necessary cost-cutting move.

Flybe to suspend Guernsey-Manchester Airport flights
European Airlines | Flybe

In a recent move, Flybe has announced its proposal to suspend its services between Guernsey and Manchester Airport for more than two months from now. The airline's decision to call off all its flights in the route after Monday until Wednesday, the 19th March has invited a strict criticism from the rival Aurigny, which also operates its services on the route.

Passengers who were looking to travel using the services of Flybe on this route would need to re-consider their planning and book a ticket with another airlines that is offering this route.

Malcolm Hart, Aurigny managing director observed, "Flybe is shortchanging islanders by making the move after it had only been given the route in May. If Flybe want to operate on these routes, they need to do exactly that. We've been flying to Manchester since 2000 and have never dropped the flights to suit ourselves."
