Not satisfied with building the world's biggest golf course, Australia has turned up with one more wacky plan to attract visitors down-under. In a recent survey by a travel magazine, Sydney has been chosen as the preferred city, and no wonder that more visitors attraction could further boost the interest of tourists and visitors in Australian tours. Seemingly, Neighbours' sun drenched streets have been drawing fans from the UK so successfully that Tourism Australia is willing to film a Japanese Soap Opera in Australia, in a bit to lure Japanese fans.
The establishment now has one renowned Japanese actor signed up for the plan and is expecting to get the cameras reeling in the coming months. This could be a real enjoying item for the visitors.

On 11th October 2007, Liverpool's Merseyside Maritime Museum is to host an event to debate on the reparations for the effects of the transatlantic slave trade, a highly controversial subject.
The person chairing the debate is no less than director of National Museums Liverpool, David Fleming. The debate is to discuss the damage that colonisation and slave trade have caused to Africa and the people of Africa.
The highlights of the event include presentations by Esther Stanford, a scholar active in jurisprudence and a community law educational practitioner consultant besides presentations by Dorothy Kuya, member of the International Slavery Museum council and trustee of National Museums Liverpool.

With 2008 fast approaching, Liverpool is preparing itself to become the European Capital of Culture. To meet the increasing demands of tourism, Liverpool City Council is getting ready with a good number of additional new coach parking facilities all through the city. The list of streets where new facilities are planned includes Bankfield Street, Regents Road, Brownlow Hill, Upper Duke Street, and Walter Street. These parks would be of a great help to the visitors and tourist coming to this city-with increased number of people coming to city, it is almost imperative to have such parks to facilitate proper flow of traffic.
In addition, drop-off points are to be accommodated in Crosshall Street, Fontenoy Street, and William Brown Street. However, there are quite a many public controversies with respect to some of the coach parks planned. In this regard, the city council has called for several public consultations since August to address the opposing concerns besides speeding up the progress of coach parking facilities.
Different facilities across the city are under various stages of construction. In addition, there are several public consultations pending so far. Under such circumstances, the exact opening dates have not been announced till date. However, top circles have affirmed that the opening will take place sometime towards the end of 2007 or the beginning of 2008. The positive moves all around seem to contribute a great deal to see the city as European Capital of Culture next year. |

With the ability of 1,300 Celebration offering luxury journeys to ports as Morocco, Thomson Cruises is making an addition of the Mersey as a home port the coming year. For the first time Liverpool is used as a beginning point for its cruises.
David Selby, head of Thomson Cruises, said last night: "We delighted to announce that we are expanding our UK programme by adding Liverpool to our range of UK ports in 2008".
30 cruises, with 50,000 passengers, starting in Liverpool during 2008 to Amazon, Greenland and the Mediterranean is a record. Thomson is joining Fred Olsen Cruise Lines and cruise operators Page and Moy and Saga from the Mersey. "Thomson's decision is great news for the city", says Warren Bradley, Liverpool council leader.

In the former years, it has turned to a common story as you will probably see that they are all occupied in the city. It's natural even with Grand National weekend in April and the Beatles Festival weekend at the end of August.
With the beginning of the Arena and Convention Centre at Kings Waterfront coming year, the circumstances seem to be bad. It would lead to an additional demand of 250,000 rooms in a year. The city faces the shortage of hotel rooms but is fraught with city centre apartments.
Jim Beal, Property developer has obtained Merchant Living to provide serviced apartments to those searching for a room in Liverpool. "We like to keep it quiet here. We don't want our guests being disturbed. Quality is the key. This is the only five star accommodations available in Liverpool", he talked. Prices begin from £120 a night for a one bedroom apartment and goes to £180 for a three bed flat.

An interesting exhibition about what life was like for British living under the Roman rule is approaching Preston. The exhibition will be on display from Saturday at the Museum of Lancashire, in Stanley Street, Preston, and will remain until December 21.
A touring exhibition from National Museums Liverpool, the Â'Living With the RomansÂ' is supported by its Partners in Art scheme, which presents the untold story of life in Roman Britain. This would be a very unique experience for the people wherever the exhibition moves, and would educate the people also about historical background of British life under the Roman rule.
The new exhibition will share in much of the information uncovered to date. It features over two hundred Roman items brought from the national collection and Lancashire County Council museums collectionÂ-many of these items have been displayed rarely before.

British Airways got an approval from the US department of transportation to operate flights from anywhere in the EU to the country. However, the flights will start flying from March next yearÂafter the open skies pact comes into force to its full extent.
According to Business Travel News Online, the approval will be used to establishing direct business-class-only flights flying to destinations such as New York from major cities including Frankfurt, Milan and Paris. This will establish a strong missing link from European cities to US cities, and travellers can have more choice in schedule and flight services. Very recently, due to some technical problem, a flight from Liverpool airport to New York was cancelled, though Liverpool airport authorities are saying that would restore the flights shortly. In such situation, new flights from various cities of Europe would fill the much-felt drought of flights.
Willie Walsh, chief executive of British Airways told the BritishAmerican Business forum in New York last week that they are looking extremely seriously at the launch of new services from the US to major business centres in continental Europe.

There is a strong possibility of restoration of flights from John Lennon Airport Liverpool to New York and London, as the authorities have vowed that steps to reinstate the flights are being taken. It is noticeable here that the loss of flight service to New York city struck John Lennon Airport just when Belgian airline VLMÂ's Liverpool to London link was terminated. The connection to US was cut after the termination of this flight services. This was a double blow to the airport that the authorities are now making every effort to get the workings right again.
The Boeing aircraft, which was used for the New York route, had to be grounded in JFK airport because it was struck by lightning last Thursday. This was a forced landing in JFK airport and left many passengers on board stranded, as there was no other flight between New York and Liverpool.
The loss of flight to the capital city London was on Sunday. This was a first major loss to John Lennon Airport, and a few days after this incident, the flight to New York had also to be discontinued. But now as the efforts are made, and operators are continuously saying that the flights would be restored. The news brings a good chance for stranded travellers to get going and restart the vital air route from the city of Liverpool to the capital city London and to the US city New York. |
