The flight delays that started on Wednesday are still continuing at the International Airport of Dublin, though the conditions are not so severe as they were when initially the air traffic control radar reported a problem.
According to the most recent statement issued by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA), the operational capacity of the airport has risen to 80 percent. This situation means that the air traffic control might be able dealing with the demand of the times during most part of the day and that delays are most likely to occur at peak times.
Most notably, a greater number of delays during these days have been reduced to 15-45 minutes. However, Ryanair flight flying from Venice faced a delay of more than an hour. Over and above, even flights from several other destinations like Atlanta, Berlin, Brussels, Cardiff, Copenhagen, Exeter, Frankfurt, Prague and Paris faced considerable delays.

Aer Lingus, the flag carrier of Ireland, has turned down approaches to sell its precious London Heathrow slots notwithstanding the continuing pressure it is facing as a result of record high prices of fuel which have doubled over the last one year, according to the reports by the Irish Independent newspaper.
The bids, by the American airline companies Delta and Continental, were made shortly after the Open Skies deal between the EU and US came in to force in the month of March.
It is expected that airlines that are having good slots in famous airports are facing problems due to high prices and they are made to cancel the flights and routes, which results in their wasting their slots. However, showing a positive intent, Aer Lingus has turned down the bids for its slots though the airlines is facing acute problems due to sky-rocketing prices of fuel.

Aer Lingus, the flag carrier of Ireland, is to re-launch its services on the route between Dublin and Newcastle International Airport later this year. This is great news for passengers who want to travel to Dublin from Newcastle International Airport. Passengers are facing constant threat of flights going down due to rising fuel costs around the world but this is surely a morale-boosting news.
Starting from 26th October, the Dublin-based carrier will operate five flights per week between the two destinations, giving both business and leisure travellers the chance to explore these cities.
Newcastle Airport's Chris Sanders said, "We are delighted that Aer Lingus is reintroducing its service to Newcastle this winter. The Dublin route is our busiest international low cost route and has become very popular for business and leisure trips in both directions".

Aer Lingus, the Irish-based carrier, has said that it is stopping its services on the route from Dublin to Los Angeles from the month of November. This is not a surprising news due to the fact that fuel prices are rising and lots of airlines around the world are forced to drop many flights and routes, which is further creating problems for passengers as the travel fare is rising.
The carrier mentioned concerns over record levels of fuel prices as well as doubt over the stagnating international economy and the weakness of the US dollar as the main reasons for the suspension of its services.
On Friday, the prices of oil reached historic high levels, increasing by around 9 per cent to $139.12 per barrel, prior to slipping slightly during trading on Monday morning. So, the problems of the airlines and passengers are still not solved.

50 per cent rise has been seen in the price of parking a car at Dublin Airport for a short-term.
The daily charge is around €40 (£28), with the hourly charge for the people parking for more than one hour rose to €4.50 (£3.22). The daily charge has been raised to €9.50 (£6.80) at the airport's long-term car park.
One of the delegates for the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) tells about one of the major causes for this rise in the cost was to make sure that there are enough spaces available for the majority of customers who park for less than one hour. The charges for these customers remain same at €1.50 (£1) for up to 30 minutes and €3 (£2) for up to one hour.

After the official opening of Pier D, passengers at Dublin Airport will now experience a speedy boarding facility. Part of a wider redevelopment scheme which will cost around €435 million, the extension was inaugurated by the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, who explaining the need of the work, said, "Dublin Airport is the fastest growing major airport in Europe and one of the busiest - with annual passenger numbers having doubled to more than 20 million over the past decade, and set to increase to 30 million by the middle of the next decade".
Having twelve new boarding gates along with fourteen plane contact stands, the Pier will make it easy for travellers to board and land without the requirement for bussing. So, the passengers coming to Dublin Airport can rest assured that now they will have lesser traffic and more convenient passes to reach and come from the airport.
At each of the 12 boarding gates, a big glass panel with the picture of a renowned Irish writer, and an extract from one of their books, is positioned. So, this is going to be revealing and attractive for the passengers.

In association with VeCommerce, a leader in voice self-service and speaker verification solutions, Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) is to introduce a completely automated and speech based system for flight information. In coordination with the airport's back office systems and call centre, the system will manage enquires regarding flight arrivals and departures, leaving the customer service staff to attend to complex enquiries.
Being the largest of Ireland's airports, the Dublin Airport handles over 600 aircraft movements and 60,000 travellers per day with the number rising to around 80,000 during the peak season. In the year 2006 alone, the airport managed over 21 million passengers.
Commenting on the investments to enhance technology, Declan McCarthy, Head of Passenger Operations at Dublin Airport remarked, "The main problem was the high demand for information during peak times, the call centre operatives coped well during the quieter times, but during the busy times, such as early morning, late afternoon and holiday periods the centre was simply swamped with calls.

Dreamlike auto creations will fill the streets of Manchester after it stages the UK's first Art Car Parade on Saturday, the 8th September. The Art Car Parades are famous in the US, with the biggest, Art Car Parade in Houston.
Every year, up to two hundred and fifty decorated vehicles are being showcased in Texas, and that attracts more than 200,000 fans. Michael Trainor, Curator of Art Cars 2007, said, "An Art Car is a drivable installation – any vehicle which has been re-imagined, restyled, remodelled, or completely metamorphosed by an artist".
Trainor added, "Vehicles can be decorated, sculpted, adorned, illuminated or bejewelled to create 'transports of delight' in the shape of cars, trucks, bikes, mobility scooters or even pedal or solar-powered contraptions". The Art Car Parade in Manchester will be starting in the Cathedral Gardens at 11 am where the visitors will be able to meet the vehicle owners. The public can also see the twenty-nine entrants that are being made ready for a parade through the city centre, which will take place at 2pm.

The London-Manchester air route has seen a sudden fall in passenger numbers, amid pressure from green groups and train companies for the people to switch planes for rail, if possible.
Since March 2006, the use of Manchester-London flights has fallen from 2 million people to 1.8 million-10 % decline over the past year, the Manchester airport confirmed.
According to Manchester Airport Group the environmental debate and a "green" advertising drive in support from Virgin Trains, had serious damages on the demand. Due to a poor demand, the low-cost carrier Jet2 dropped its London-Manchester route recently.

Passenger traffic at Bangor International Airport is declining this year. The airport officials are blaming the trend of low-cost airlines that are now operating from Portland International Jetport.
In the first five months of the year, the passenger traffic was dropped by 4.7 per cent, and in May, the drop was 16.2 per cent.
In May, the airportÂ's largest carrier, Delta Air Lines, experienced a 33 per cent decline in passengers.

The plans to build a park and ride site on land at Moss Lane in Styal, Cheshire have been rejected by the Planning Inspectorate.
The inspector supported the claims of Macclesfield Borough Council. It referred it as Â"unnecessaryÂ", if the airport is investing sufficiently in public transport. While an airport spokesman said that the decision was disappointing.
