Blackpool Airport working on return of London route
Destinations | Blackpool | London

The Blackpool Airport's management have stepped up their battle in order to defend the reintroduction of flights to London. The argue still continues with various airlines as told by a spokesperson, whereas locals have drowned the terminal with letters and e-mails asking for a new London service. He further says that a new service could be in place as soon as next summer.

Around half a million people take the advantage of Ryanair's twice daily flights to Stansted before they were fired earlier this year. In an attempt to catch a new airline, the airport is asking travellers about the benefits they require. The online survey on the airport's website is part of a special battle to convince a new airline to step in and link Blackpool to London.

Sue Kendrick, communications manager at the airport, comments: 'We have had a constant flow of e-mails, letters and calls from residents across Lancashire enquiring about a replacement London route, so we know that the demand is out there'.

Ticket deal on offer from Manx2.com
Destinations | Blackpool

Manx2.com, the Isle of Man based carrier, is offering 10,000 reduced price seats on its flights from the island to Blackpool and Belfast over the winter season. This is one of those good offers for regional air travel that passengers can avial in times of Christmas and New Year.

The airline is offering the one way tickets at a price starting from just £15 on these routes. Bookings must be made at least eight weeks before the departure. The airline believes that the offer will boost the travel to and from the island. It is important here that passengers who want to visit Isle of Man, can book their tickets at such a low price, which is not offered during whole year.

Manx2.com's chairman, Noel Hayes, said, "We think this is the biggest seat sale every undertaken by an Isle of Man company, and we hope it will be very popular indeed with islanders".

Blackpool zoo gets two awards
Destinations | Liverpool | | Blackpool

In the annual Northwest Tourism Awards, the Blackpool Zoo has been nominated twice. The zoo is up for best visitor experience and best big tourist attraction of the year. This is a major boost for Blackpool tourism, and no wonder that visitors would allow the diverse attractions of the city to their heart's delight.

The nomination for the best visitor experience is for its creative 'Keeper of the Day' experience, providing an opportunity to the visitors to spend a day with one of the keeper teams of the zoo, which of course visitors love very much.

Other attractions that are nominated in Blackpool are: the George Bancroft Park, near Bloomfield Road and St Anne's Square are competing for the best public space award while the Grand Theatre has been nominated for best tourism website of the year.

Blackpool Airport on the expansion move
Destinations | Liverpool | | Blackpool

Blackpool Airport being the centre of Low-cost airlines, declares to increase their services in its motivated growth plan. This declaration would be a direct boost for the low-cost airlines also, and it is possible that more flights are planned by the airlines from Blackpool Airport.

An increase of passenger traffic from 555,000 this year to 1.7 million by 2010, and 3.4 million by 2030, is indicated in the airport's master plan. A replacement terminal has been earmarked for construction in 2011 to accommodate the added passengers in the Airport.

Slashing of key routes from Blackpool this year (to London Stansted, Prague and Amsterdam) has not deterred Gareth Kennedy, the airport's commercial director who affirms that new routes are being followed.
