Travellers leaving New Zealand from Auckland Airport on or after the 1st of July 2008 will no longer require paying an international departure fee of NZ$25. This is on account of the long awaited change to a fresh departure fee collection process. All this is set to start off in the course of a month.
The old departure fee is being traded by a new Passenger Services Charge (PSC), which will be charged by Auckland Airport from the airlines, rather than customers, based on the number of international departures and arrivals.
Don Huse, chief executive of Auckland Airport, said, "Airport and airline customers have been telling us for some time that the old departure fee process was a genuine hassle. We are now looking forward to taking the old collection process link out of the chain from July and simplifying travel for everyone".

With an exciting event entitled "Hong Kong Saddles Up For Olympics", The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) gave a kick-start to a line of Olympics equestrian promotions in the UK. Earlier last month, similar marketing activities were launched in Auckland, New Zealand, and this would mean the second big marketing campaign by the tourism board.
Held on 15th October in the Household Cavalry Museum, "Hong Kong Saddles Up For Olympics" was officiated by dignitaries like The Hon John Tsang, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and his wife; Mr Andrew Finding, CEO of the British Equestrian Federation and Mr Anthony Lau, Executive Director of the HKTB.
The Executive Director of the HKTB Mr Anthony Lau remarked that Household Cavalry Museum was specially chosen by HKTB to host a number of promotional events for the Olympic. He said, "In view of the British's love for equestrian, the HKTB will launch a series of market-oriented activities to heighten their desire  especially that of the equestrian enthusiasts  to visit Hong Kong during the 2008 Olympics".

One can tour Barcelona on foot from its Roman ruins and medieval city to the modernist Catalán quarters. Barcelona is known as the capital of Modernism, the city in which the architect Antoni Gaudà lived and worked. His most representative work, the temple of the Sagrada Familia, was left unfinished. Other famous works are the Güell Park, the Milà House, also called "La Pedrera" and the Batlló House. The most commercial area of the city is in its historic centre: Portaferrissa, Pelai, Rambla, Portal de Angel and Catañuña Square, where small shops mix with department stores and franchises of large clothes chain stores. A little further north of Cataluña Square, in the Paseo de Gracia, the Rambla de Catalunya and the Avenida Diagonal. These sell international designer labels, leather goods and jewellery. Las Ramblas walk which runs between Cataluña Square and the old port is lined with newspaper kiosks, flowers, street actors, cafés, restaurants and shops. Las Ramblas walk ends at la Barceloneta, the port with the famous statue of Christopher Columbus. Hundreds of luxurious yachts dock in its harbor. |
