According to a report published in Telegraph, trials are underway to implement innovative security screening measures to dramatically enhance safety and reduce queues at airports. The report further states that several companies are quickly developing 'nanotechnology-based' scanners that can improvise over the existing methods to detect explosives.
This technology would drastically improve the check-in facility at airports and passengers would find it very convenient to walk through this process. Moreover, it will also allow many airlines to be more punctual in their flight schedule.
Interestingly, Erwan Normand of Stirling-based Cascade Technologies says that one of the new techniques designed by their firm in these lines can screen one person per second. This is expected to be available on commercial basis sooner or later during this year.

To be enforced at the earliest possibility, British Airways has called for significant improvements over customer service quality targets at the Heathrow Airport. This move follows the concern of the airline that BAA is taking the issue lightly by unduly prolonging the process for so long.
The airlines has issued strict directives to the regulatory body the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to force Heathrow's owner, BAA, to dramatically quicken the process of introducing new targets related to the aspects of passengers' experience within two years.
BA has specially raised a concern about the security control posts, since the airline believes that the existing procedures are greatly affecting the flight punctuality. This would surely be a very important move for travellers as they would be benefitted by the moves taken up by airport authorities. BA, very recently, have been attacked due to its very poor punctuality, and now it will be having some schemes to improve upon that, which is good for passengers also.

Forming part of its booking platform, Atlas Blue, the renowned budget airline has introduced an innovative carbon-offsetting scheme. This is a crucial step towards green tourism and practices of eco-friendly flights. As more airlines are offering these sorts of schemes, more passengers have options to offset their carbon emissions through air-travel.
The Morocco based carrier has designed the scheme through its strategic alliance with Airsavings SA, the technology firm, which will supply and administer the software necessary to calculate flight emissions and the corresponding offset that is required. So, this would be a good chance for passengers to offset their carbon emissions.
The contributions made towards this end while bookings flights through the Atlas Blue website will be directly transferred to ActionCarbone, an organisation that funds projects like tree planting and the introducing of renewable energy wherever possible. So, the airlines have adopted a good scheme by all means.

Immediately on the day following its introduction, the charge collected from drivers looking to drop off and pick up passengers at Norwich International Airport has been recalled.
Notably, the £1.90 fee came into effect on the 22nd of January, following the decision of the car parks' operator NCP to abolish the 15-minute free parking period.

In an interesting move, Jet2holidays.com, the fastest growing tour operators of the north has decided to cut down the deposits holiday makers have to place by two thirds, i.e., £150 to £50 per booking.
Over and above, the company will not asking for any other second-level deposits near the dates of departure. For instance, several tour operators require their customers to make a payment for about six-eight weeks before the commencement of holiday, which they believe would effectively serve as a loan from the customers to the holiday companies.
These interesting moves are solely aimed to lead the company to the highly competitive edge of the industry, while the company is already into limelight for driving the cost of traditional package holidays. The new scheme of cutting over the deposits enables the holidaymakers to enjoy holidays at unbelievably cheaper rates.

This year's Six Nations rugby tournament is all set to be the most exciting one than any time in the past, with France, the winners of last year seeking to play with added fervor to defend their highly cherished title and World Cup, with the runners-up England venturing to storm through and grab it from them.
Interestingly, the Rugby fans from across Europe can benefit from the fact that the journey prices by Euroline coaches will cost less than the price of a ticket for the match in Paris or Dublin. Eurolines, forming part of the National Express group has decided to run its coaches from London to all the vital matches.
John Gilbert, the Managing Director remarked, "Many fans have come to realise they can get to somewhere like Paris easily by coach. There were huge numbers of fans who travelled with us to the World Cup in Paris when we had more than three times our regular number of coaches to cope with demand and we expect our services will be busy once again for this Six Nations championship."

Next month, the second runway at Manchester Airport will be closed for a period of nearly three weeks to allow for planned maintenance work. From the 5th of February to the 29th of February, all planes will be operated (both take-off and landing) on the airport's Runway 1. Passengers who have made bookings from Manchester Airport should take care about this and make sure that they go to the right place.
However, officials from the higher management of the airport said that the runway closure was not likely to have any significant disruption to travellers, making a mention to the point that it was taking place during a normally quiet period for travel-just before the busy summer season.
Andrew Cornish, managing director at Manchester Airport, said, "This is important but routine engineering work and we have chosen to do this during February which is traditionally a quieter time before the busy summer period".
