The Italian Connection offers a special trip to strike a difference in the winter city break to discover Naples and nearby Pompeii, which will talk so much about the day-to-day life of the Roman citizen than any other place.
Located at just half hour's train journey from the city, Pompeii is kept open on all days between November and March between 8.30am and 5.00pm. Spread on a huge area, the entire location requires not less than a whole day to explore the forum, gladiator barracks, amphitheatre, villas, merchant's houses, streets, bathhouse and temples.
Once they are back in Naples, the visitors would require some time to visit the Museo Archeologico Nazionale, which is open on all days of the winter between 9:00am and 18:00pm to explore the best range of mosaics and murals of Pompeii.

The restraints on the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) while flying to airports in member states has been removed by the European Commission. The current list of black list airlines banned from the skies of Europe is presented. This is a welcome news for passengers who are looking to travel to Pakistan.
The Commission tells that various measures had been taken by PIA to solve the issues which rose earlier in this year as restoration of some of the operator's older jets. So, now passengers can expect flights between Europe and Pakistan.
Jacques Barrot, Commission vice-president in charge of transport, speaks: "This latest revision shows that when airlines take rapid and sound corrective action to comply with safety standards, they can be withdrawn from the list quickly. It also shows that the list increasingly serves as a pre-emptive rather than punitive tool for safeguarding aviation safety".

Next summer, Thomsonfly has decided to axe five routes from Bournemouth Airport as the demand significantly slides down in the route. On the other hand, two other routes are to be introduced from the South Coast airport.
The changes indicate that the routes in and out of Bournemouth can as well be served with one Boeing 737 aircraft instead of the two flying at present. So, you should plan your trips from Bournemouth according to the times offered by other airlines. From South Coast airport, you can have more options provided by Thomsonfly.
The services axed from the summer schedule of Thomsonfly with effect from 1st May include flights to Pisa, Alicante, Salzburg, Valencia and Tenerife. The new routes introduced are Dalaman located on Turkey's Mediterranean coast and Heraklion located on the Greek island of Crete. As per the changes fro next summer, the airline will operate 7 routes from Bournemouth to Faro, Malaga, Ibiza, Palma Mallorca, Dalaman, Paphos, and Heraklion.

According to the information got by Bloomberg news agency from JP Morgan, with British Airways losing the protection of fuel-price hedging next year, the company will be selling its long-haul economy-class seats at a loss. However, on the other hand, Deutsche Bank lifted shares in the airline on the same day to 'buy' from 'hold' since it is believed that the UK airline's position offers it some insurance against a recession in the market.
This is a bit of mirky situation for passengers, as they may find themselves again in a situation of price hike.
In a note to investors, Chris Avery, JP Morgan analyst said that the rise of oil price presupposes that the tickets for the BA's cheapest long-haul flights are already sold on a loss, when hedging is excluded. For instance, the price of a ticket between Los Angeles and San Francisco is as little as £398. Actually, this is £23 less than the price of per seat fuel, taxes and fees put together.

ABTA, in association with AiTO, has stepped into the hotly-debated issue of carbon offsetting with a new scheme called Reduce My Footprint, which is operated by Carbon Offsets Ltd. It does not claim to write-off the answerability of travellers, but encourages them to cut the amount of carbon emissions across each and every sphere of their lives and to neutralise what they are unable to reduce.
The scheme, Reduce My Footprint, introduced to the travelling people at the Travel Convention in Tenerife, checks that the funds raised goes to the projects initiated for improving the lives of people living in holiday locations, sustain the beauty which attracts everybody and to participate in the offsetting projects which are approved by the Government.
Keith Richards, ABTA's Head of Consumer Affairs, said, "So far, travellers have found it hard to get excited by 'offsetting,' as they are often confused by the process and can't relate to where their hard-earned cash is going to.

As a part of its recently launched Tread Lightly campaign, Eurostar has begun providing carbon-neutral journeys for all its passengers without charging any additional cost for the cause. Eurostar has plans to reduce its emissions by 25% for the journey of every passenger by 2012. The company has now started offsetting carbon at its own expense as eliminating emissions from a train journey does not come through.
Eurostar has associated with Carbon Clear, the leading carbon management company to provide carbon credits. After a long and stringent selection process, the two companies have currently invested in an Indian windfarm in Tamilnadu and a small hydropower plant in China. These projects are expected to bestow a range of social and environmental benefits by displacing fossil fuels in these two highly polluting nations, in addition to providing electricity and employment in poor communities that are greatly in demand. In addition, there are several other sustainable energy projects launched by the joint effort of these two companies in many other countries.
Head of Environment for Eurostar, Louisa Bell remarked, "We wanted to source carbon credits from a reputable supplier, and that all our offsetting is done to the highest scientific and ethical standards. We wanted a company that is very close to its projects and could give us the opportunity to be involved in the choice of projects. Following a selection process, we chose Carbon Clear to offset the emissions from Eurostar journeys."

Evoking a widespread criticism by business leaders, British Airways has decided to axe its route connecting Aberdeen Airport and Gatwick route with effect from next spring. The flights in this route will end by March next year. The move follows a projection of lower demand since two US routes move to Heathrow due to a reorganisation. The route had about 19,000 passengers and the airport expects that this route will be taken over by another operator.
As per a move considered to be a key factor in driving traffic on the route, Houston and Dallas services of the British Airlines that are used by the oil industry will be shifted to Heathrow's new Terminal Five from Gatwick at the end of March. A spokesman of the airline remarked, "We anticipate that this will have a detrimental impact on passenger numbers between Aberdeen and Gatwick."
According to the airline, the services between Aberdeen and Heathrow will continue at the rate of seven times daily, without any more increase in the number of services or the capacity of the aircrafts. The airline will scrap its Gatwick flights at the point of switching off the US routes from Gatwick to Heathrow.

The innovation team of the Virgin Atlantic airways is exploring the ways of providing pickup for passengers' luggage and deliver it at their preferred hotel or resort by the time they arrive. Paul Charles, the airline's director of communications remarked that this move would help significantly bring down the numbers of luggage lost.
This could turn out to be a blessing services for the customers. Very recently, British Airways has been bogged down by the increased number of cliams of "lost baggage", which is clearly indicative of the problem that passengers have to face. If Virgin Atlantic starts this service of luggage courier, it could reduce the hassles of check-in and also the problem of lost-luggage.
Paul Charles, the airline's durector of communications further added: "We are looking at how private courier services could pick up luggage before departure and fly it separately. It would then be delivered to the customer's hotel so it's there waiting for them."

Malta Bargain Holidays has hired and conducted a McDonnell Douglas MD90 aircraft since 2004, which was owned and flown by Hello of Basel, Switzerland under the brand name British Jet.
As the time of hiring the aircraft was about to finish, Malta Bargain had a word with Air Malta for providing the air transportation to its customers. Both the companies have entered into a deal and Air Malta will be Malta Bargain Holidays' new aircraft transport provider.

Quite a few small galleries of London's popular art galleries report record number of visits. According to a joint announcement made by the directors of the Courtauld Gallery, the Dulwich Picture Gallery and the Wallace Collection, new series of exhibitions are to be added up further to boost public enthusiasm. This would be a very good chance for visitors to have a deeper glimpse on the art of these small galleries.
Quite interestingly, the Courtauld is celebrating its 75th anniversary. During this year, the gallery is expecting around 125,000 visitors. Last year, Dulwich attracted 142,000 visitors, when the Wallace collection saw 330,000 people.
The Wallace's director, Ros Savill, remarked, "It's thrilling because finally we're reaching the kind of visitor numbers that we weren't expecting to reach until 2025. What we can do as smaller museums is attract people on a slightly different basis. We're not going to do a great blockbuster like our larger counterparts but we can use our tiny space as well as possible. We can be tiny, but we can be excellent."

Recently, a survey has been launched to determine the demand for a new direct air service connecting Aberdeen Airport and Poland. With just two weeks remaining for the survey to close, it has received over 1000 responses already.
It is a good way to know the feelings and comments of the passengers who would of course be using the services of Aberdeen Airport. At the same time, it is also a good chance for passengers to voice for the services that they would like to have by the airport.
The survey published to measure the appetite for the said route is available at www.szkocja24.com with the English version published in www.polesinscotland.com. Approximately, around 25,000 poles live in Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen.
